I agree my little one just turned 14mths and we are traveling the road with daddy, so i have been thinking about homeschooling him. The only question i have of the parents already doing this, how does it effect them socially with kids there own age?

Hi celestew84,
If your 14m old is exposed to normal socialization patterns, there is no problem with home schooling. I believe that it creates a nice bond between parent and child. Children in conventional schools pick-up many bad behaviors and poor disciplines since they are easy influenced. Afterall, many child stars are home schooled and many of them are rather successful for a long time.

PPA is correct as long as you make the effort to socialize your child through other means like playgroups they will be fine. My husband and I have already decided on homeschooling for as long as possible. I think my children will get a better education and it will build a stronger parenting bond.

Probably he will be more educated thanks to no distraction by classmates there.
It may also happen that he won't socialize too much and he will have problems after school. |

Many of my friends are homeschooling moms with very-well socialized children. Just because a child is homeschooled, doesn't mean that all of the schooling takes place at home. The kids are involved in outside activities and interact with other children all the time. It just takes a little extra effort on the part of the parents but parents who choose to homeschool, usually don't mind putting forth the effort.

There is nothing wrong with homeschooling your child to be quite honest. It won't really affect their social life or skills unless you let it. Encourage them to be friends with other children, and go out and have fun. I was home schooled for a few years due to a operation I had I couldn't walk so the only way I could get any education was by doing it at home. I haven't had any problems being social with anyone out in the world even if I don't know them, it isn't hard to say hello and start a small conversation.
