I have just started a new forum and am wondering if seo is effective for foums? Does anyone have any advice or ideas that I could use?

My forum has no active users and very little posts so I was wondering about using paid posters? Will this boost my search engine ranking?

Thanks a lots for any help!

Yes it will, but you can also do a bit a link exchange and submit your self to search engines and portals.

Here you can find a list with 49 search engines an portals you can submit your site to:

Yes. Your really need to focus on SEO to get a forum up and running so you are heading in the right direction. To really get your bang for the buck in SEO, I would focus on SEO, and maybe even an ad-network like DP has.

Also, forum posting will help increase the content on your site which is very important. Focus on SEO, and your forum will be successful.

Good Luck!

DP stands for DigitalPoint, a website that provides tools and a forum for webmasters. I can't post a link here yet so google "Digitalpoint" and you will see it.
SEO is important for a forum. Installing MODs to optimize the Title and Meta tags is useful.
For building links to your forums the best way is to use ad networks like Digitalpoint's ad network, and join forums similar to yours and put a link to your forum in the signiture.
