Unless you are working on some direct promotion then generally it would take you at least a few months to start getting some natural sign ups. You could always look into some google ads or something though if you need more visitors before that.

It will take a while regardless of what you can do, but there are some ways you can try to up the readership:

1. Make sure that you have a topic that you can continuously post about without getting bored on the topic. Also make sure that it's something other people will want to know.
2. Once you have your blog established (at least a week or two of regular posting), try to find other blogs relevant to yours and comment in them. Mention you have a blog on the same topic, invite them to check it out if you like.
3. Google around/look around for free advertising options. There are websites out there that list all sorts of blogs for free; I can't quite remember the names of them, but a little research should show you the way to them.
4. If you're willing to put some extra effort in, make a website around the blog. It doesn't have to be big or spectacular (though that helps, haha), but anything that links in/ties in with your blog will help.
5. If other forums you frequent allow it, mention that you have a blog when the topic comes up. Don't spam your blog to everyone, though.

I hope this helped at least a little. Good luck!
