One of my hobbies is geocaching. What is that? To put it in very simple terms, it is a high-tech treasure hunting game that uses the internet and a handheld GPS to locate "hidden" items. I have been a geocacher for 3 1/2 years.
Does anyone know of a geocaching forum? I belong to a yahoo group of geocachers, but would enjoy finding a forum to post to, as well. |

Hi Lidi Bee
Do you belong to geocaching dot com? We have belonged there for years as an unpaid member. We have hidden a few caches even! I do think they have a paid area where there is a forum and lots of other user features we cant access. You may want to check it out.
We find geocaching to be one of our favorite hobbies on weekends. We get up early anyway on Saturday or Sunday mornings. We love to put a couple of coordinates in our GPS and take our son, and try to track them down. The urban caches which are tiny and hard to find are harder, but the ones that are in state parks are great. Big Ammo cans full of goodies and toys to trade. We even have stickers with our caching team name and email address to stick on the log. We enjoy the exercise of hiking and all the interesting parks and public areas we get to see that we didnt know where there before. We moved to a new area a couple of years ago and didnt know where anything was. But just by geocaching and using our GPS, we found roads that were shortcuts, parks and schools and neighborhoods that are very hidden etc.
Great hobby! |
