My top fivefavorites are in constant flux, but presently:
1. Swingers
2. Ocean's 11
3. The Prestige
4. City of God
5. Children of Men
I always try to make the distinction between "favorite" and "best," because I don't think any of the above movies would qualify necessarily as the greatest films I've seen from an accomplishment standpoint. They aren't pinnacle achievements so far as direction or acting or cinematography, but they're very good movies that I can watch over and over again, so that's they make up my top 5. |

Naming my top favorite movies is one of the most difficult things for me to do because I have tons of films I love, but I'll give it a try. The names are liable to change anytime, though.
1. Sophie's Choice
2. 8 Women (8 Femmes)
3. The Lady Eve
4. Grand Hotel
5. The Umbrellas of Cherbourg |

One of my favorite is ‘Mr and Mrs Smith’ which had me in stitches.
The pace was a bit slow in the beginning but the plot picked up with superb satire and
spoof on marriage life per se. I laughed all the way through the film and there was plenty of action along with incredible stunts.
Other favorites I like:
I Am Legend
The Last Samurai
Ek Hasina Thi
Gangster
300
Shrek
and many many more.... |

Oh, I am SUCH a movie buff, so listing my favorites is somewhat difficult, but here is a sampling....
Andrew Lloyd Webber's Phantom of the Opera; Life is Beautiful; Pride & Predjudice (all versions); Black Velvet (the original); The Princess Bride; Father of the Bride; Ever After; Steel Magnolias; Mona Lisa Smile; Mr. Holland's Opus; Little Women; A Walk in the Clouds; An Officer & A Gentleman; The Natural; The Great Gatsby; Grapes of Wrath; My Girl; The Hunt for Red October; The Man in the Moon; The Pelican Brief; Message in a Bottle; The Notebook; Coal Miner's Daughter; Kramer vs. Kramer; Of Mice and Men; The Fugitive
For sure, ALW's Phantom of the Opera is at the top of the list, as it is also my favorite musical I've seen on the stage! |
