Hello,
Well there are a ton of free hosts out there, each one fighting to host your website. Sounds too good to be true right? Well I have owned a hosting company for nearly two years and I remember back in the days when we first started.

Let me suggest that you avoid free hosts that are jam packing their free packages with goodies (lots of bandwidth, space, Fantastico! etc). These hosts are offering so much that they will eventually most likely run themselves into financial trouble. Why you may ask? Simple, if these companies have such good free packages, why would anyone want to signup for their paid packages, afterall the free package has everything that most webmasters need.

The point of this post is to remind everyone, dont let your eyes get of your mind (I think I kind of stole that from the your eyes are bigger than your stomach saying :-p!). What may looks amazing now may not be your best choice in the long run.

Stay cool,
Mike W Cool

Alternatively, you could host your site with a basic web host, and build it up with original content.

Then do a search for hosts that look for quality sites, and request from hosting from them. These hosts are selective about who they pick up, and usually when you get picked, you will get a lot more tools than any normal free host would ever offer to you.

Plus, given that these services host only manually picked sites, the site owner will have a careful inventory of his server load capabilities, and are less likely to overload it.

Sometimes, Free webhosting providers start to offer things they know are unable to provide, and know user will never user them totally, for instance: UNLIMITED BANDWIDTH.
I always asked how can they offer that, if paid hosting services don't offer that.
That's absolutely impossible.

Yes, they can tell you anything to host your website.
Anyway, for now, I prefer free hosting to host my websites. I don't have enough money for paid services.

Free web hosting might be a good way to start off. You can always change to paid hosting when your forum gets bigger and when you need unlimited bandwidth. Also, some free hosting deals mean you have to have advertising on your forum (that's why it's free) which you might not like.

If you are new to forums, it might be a good idea to play around with free web hosting to start with and then see what happens. You can always upgrade when need be. Very Happy
