Its actually a pretty good gig if you know what you are doing. I thought it was a scam at one time. There are serious opportunities out there as an affiliate marketer to make some good extra money. If you are a newbie, I wouldn't hold your breath though if you don't own a website and are not familiar with clever ways to promote your site and play the Search Engine PPC game. There are tons of very well known companies who offer a commission to their affiliates, however you do have to be very wary of paying to much for keywords on the big search engine sites like Google and Overture (now yahoo). It's a game that I'm not very good at. Does anyone do this and make good money?

I never even got into an affiliate program until I started with this place. The referral programs here are great.

The only other one I belong to is writerlance. I believe and like their business too. This place is a great service to community owners.

I haven't promoted affiliates in a while on my new sites, but I have done affiliate work before. It really does pay off and some companies pay big money if you can bring users to them. I know that GoToMyPC pays like 10 bucks or something around there for everyone whom you refer that signs up for a free trial. So do a lot of other companies like them. I like doing business with GoToMyPC and with WebEx and Fax people.

As soon as my new forum gets enough members I am going to start promoting some affiliates companies that i think have products that my members will like. This is an awesome way to monetize a forum. You must have established credibility with your members though.

There is an affiliate program for every type of product you could imagine. I think it is the number one way of making money online. At least, affiliate programs are MY number one way of making money online. I"m into building niche content sites and selling advertising, tangible goods, information products, etc. I use affiliate programs for most of them. It's about the easiest way to make money good online, if you ask me.

Becoming an affiliate is definitely a good way to monetize your website or forum. This way you can make money without having to stock anything on your own and all you have to do is have the banners present on your website. It works for both you and the company, you get money and they get cheap advertising.

I can also see how you might be tentative to join such a program because some of the information that you have to give in order to get payment is such that you should not be willing to give away easily. Luckily, as long as you are dealing with a reputable and established company you should be safe. I tend to stay away from companies that are not well known or are startup that ask for personal information. I will however join an affiliate program with a company like that, that pays with products like t-shirts if they don't ask for a lot of information.

Affiliate marketing is great for blogs, as well. The trick is finding something you enjoy, then building your blog around your interests while running affiliate ads, or including links to items that are compatible with your subject matter.

I haven't paid for traffic yet, and don't use Adsense. If I begin selling ad space, I intend to use Adbrite.

Affiliate marketing can be very lucrative but like anything else online, you've got to do your homework. Make sure that you're working with a legitimate company or product.

I have tried several affiliate sites but when you deal with sites that allow everyone to put up their products, you end up with less than quality items to try and sell. Clickbank is one that I would be careful with. It's not that Clickbank is a scam but if you look at the products available for you to sell, they're not that great.

Commission Junction offers affiliate products from more reputable businesses.

Another thing to consider is that to sell these items, you'll need a website. You'll also need to advertise this website. No matter what you do to make money online, an investment of time and money will be needed. But if you're willing to make the investment, there are some very good opportunities out there.

I second the vote on Commission Junction. There is a decent variety of affiliates you can choose from, and you can vary the ads placed on your site. I wasn't real impressed with ClickBank, although I've never used them.

Affiliate Marketing can be a very powerful money maker if you know what you're doing. I know some guys that earn a lot of cash by doing it. It requires skill, knowledge and a lot of effort but in the end, if you manage to sell the "product" it will be worth it.
