I personally love it. I love being able to go out for a night, kick back and relax while the people working have to cater to me. I love not having to actually cook myself because my food usually tastes really awful and because it also takes time, which unfortunately, is very valuable to me.

Going out to restaurants is fun when I have the excess cash to do so. It's always fun going out with friends too. But I don't tend to go out too often, then it gets boring.

With the way things are in the economy right now it's getting harder to actually go out, and have a good time with friends anymore. I went out with my friends for our one buddies birthday a week or two back, and that was the first time in atleast 5 months that I've been able to do so freely. I'd suggest if possible try to fit it in more if it's something you don't get to do too often, but don't make it excessive especially to the same place, because then things tend to get a little dull.

Boy is this a subject I know alot about! My husband and I own the family restaurant. We have been in existance for 40 years. It's an authentic Mexican restaurant where the recipes have been handed down through three generations. We have seen a big decrease this past month because of the economy. People just don't have the money to eat out!

As far as us going out to eat at other restaurants....well once a week we stop for some fast food before we go to see a movie. This weekend my whole family is going to be in town and we will go to eat at a nice Japanese restaurant. Usually the only other time we dine out is for birthdays or our anniversary. We used to do separate dinings for each birthday but now we combine everyone's in one since all our birthdays are in December.

We have never eaten out a lot, it is just cheaper to eat at home. I have two boys and they eat a lot! We do go to Fast Food about once a week, but rarely do we ever go to sit down restaurants.

I love eating out - especially with my husband. He is very busy working as an independent consultant, so very often, when he comes home late, and I mean LATE, he doesn't have much interest in anything anymore... Fully understandable of course. But when we go out for dinner, we can spend quality time together, no computer or television or cell phone or house phone or anything... I love it.

The only thing is, getting a decent dinner in the Netherlands is costing you at least $80 for two persons (a modest bottle of wine included). Restaurant and café prices went through the roof when the Euro was introduced in 2002. The owners claimed it was because of raised prices from their suppliers, but we all think they used the situation and were a bit too greedy. As a result, many of our friends don't go out as often as they used too... We try to do it once or twice a month.

I have a super problem with eating out! My family does it too regularly. Since we've gotten into the health-food thing, we're really cutting back on spending and unhealthy foods eating at home. Who knows how long I will last, though? I can't make very great pizza at home! Smile

I definitely have a habit of eating out. I generally find myself rushing to get to work and figure its easier to just take 5 minutes and go through a drive through for breakfast. Or after work il be hungry, and its so easy to stop and eat...

I probably spend more money on fast food than anything else. 5-8 dollars a stop really adds up quick when your not paying attention.

I find it's pretty easy to get addicted to eating out when you've just finished a long hard day at work and don't feel like making anything or cleaning up afterward. The real problem is choosing do so without burning all your hard earned cash.

I also think it's important to just get out every once in a while to a nice restaurant with your family not just for the food, but to enjoy the overall experience.

My wife and I love eating out and we do so nearly every day. As we are living in Thailand it is rather inexpensive to eat out so we can do so whenever we want. When we were living in Europe we went less often to restaurants as its rather expensive to eat at most restaurants back home.

Me and my family don't often eat out, but it is nice to eat out with a group. Although here in Europe, it's rather expensive going every time out for eating, so we only go eating out on special days like someones birthday or as a family reunion, that sort of things.

I love eating out also. My favorite meal is breakfast. Isn't it odd how food always taste better when someone else makes it? And, along with the rest of you, we don't go out to eat very often anymore. We used to go to our favorite restaurant every Sunday for breakfast. Now, we've cut that down to about once a month.

At least breakfast is easy and inexpensive to make at home. I even cook breakfast food sometimes for dinner.

My ex and I ate out regularly. I never had much choice in were we went, just along for the ride. Now that we are divorced and money is tight, I don't eat out nearly as much but enjoy it much more. When I do eat out, it feels special now. I guess I don't take it for granted any more.

I try to get myself to eat right. I serve well-balanced and healthy meals at home (ok, most of the time), but once i leave the house,i gorges on junk food.I with my friends binge on candy, chips, soda etc at sleepovers and I suspect of myself uses the vending machines at school, even though I have told myself don't spend lunch money on that junk. Is there any way I can control my eating habits when i'm out of the house? I think a little junk food every now and then is ok, but not on a daily basis.

It's really interesting to hear about the different ways everyone on here eats out! When I started reading this topic I figured most families would hardly eat out at all (like when I was growing up). It's good to see things have changed.

I'm used to eating out just because of the crazy life I have. One thing I've learned is that you have to know your stuff if you're going to eat out regularly - shopping around can actually keep the cost of eating out to a manageable level. Surprisingly, I very rarely eat junk food, because it is way more expensive than finding something healthy to eat when I'm out!

Does anyone else find it's cheaper to buy a healthy meal than a junk food one?
