As a member of multiple forums just for the fun of it, a big turn off for me is finding advertising that has absolutely NOTHING to do with the forum topics whatsoever. If I am hanging out and posting at a beauty and cosmetics forum, it's a safe bet that I'm not going to click on a link for rebuilt 455 engines or pills to increase my *ahem* size.
I am however, likely to check out a link for South Beach diet tips, or Revlon Colorstay makeup. Get the picture? There is a wide range of topics available for advertising, finding the right ones to add to your forum can greatly increase both your traffic and your paycheck. |

Exactly. I have a forum about Gran Canaria (Canary Islands, Spain) and a lot of the Google adverts used to advertise canaries (ie - the feathered variety!!) Fortunately it is possible to finetune the ads or else to get your own. It is both offputting and unprofessional looking to have totally irrelevant ads, as well as pointless because the only way people will click on them is by accident |

I think that a lot of backlinkers make a bad name for us all. If they keep their links in the appropriate genres, backlinks are honestly a good thing for all concerned. They broaden the horizons for readers and put money in the pockets of content producers. But when it is just "aimless linking", we call it SPAM, plain and simple. And, noone likes the taken advantage of feeling that comes with SPAM. So, don't do it! |
