Yeah as most of the posters in this thread I agree with that dressing your dog is just awful.. I just can't see the reason. The dog most likely doesn't like it and it looks so stupid.

As said before me, it's pathetic..

For some reason, seeing large dogs all dressed up is ridiculous to me, but when I see a teeny dog all dressed up I think it's cute. I used to have a Maltese, and every now and again we would put a little doggie shirt on him, and I am fully convinced that he liked it. When you put the shirt on him, he would prance around all happy... and I am definitely sure they kept him warm in the winter!

Generally, i'm against dressing up dogs. I always see these dogs and they never look particularly happy dressed up. Plus, it just adds to that whole "purse dog" thing. Dogs are animals, not babies. If you wanna dress something up, get a doll! That said, based on my dogs' looks and personality I have often joked about dressing them up as angel and devil, tigger and pooh or Grand Ma and Red Riding Hood.

Dressing up dogs is purely for the owners entertainment. I don't think I ever saw a dog that was dressed up that looked happy. People don't think about how their dog's feel about wearing the costumes and clothing that are made for them.

You did the right thing by not going to the party, I don't think you or your dogs would have had any fun. I couldn't even imagine your two rotts dressed up.

Dogs really shouldn't be dressed up because it is kind of humiliating towards the animal. I know when I had my dog, we used to put these Christmas antlers on him, but he would just shake them off or take them off with his paws. I guess some dogs wouldn't really care, but I can imagine that the vast majority would just try to destroy the clothing.
