| It is a bit sad how the elderly are treated. It scares me a bit because one day I will be elderly, and then what happens to me ? people need to think about that. |

My wife became disabled just before her 41st birthday, on Wednesday she'll be 48. What scares her is if health care in our country is this bad and expensive now, what's it going to be like further down the road for everyone. |

| I developed Chronic Asthma after my daughter was born 18 years ago. Back in the day I was given a years perscription for an emergency inhaler and a 6 month perscription for the asthma controller inhaler so I could get refills when I needed it without having to run to the doctors office and a visit for a perscription refill was about $35. Today! Doctors visit for a specialist (no family doctor will see me because I have a chronic condition) is more than $100 a visit AND they will give me a perscription for one month supply of my 2 medications each time, so every month I have to fork out $100-125 just to get my perscription which will always cost me $200 for them both, one is cheap the other almost $200 all by itself. (I could get the expensive one in Canada at $71 for three months supply, here it is $188 for one month supply!) I have had asthma for 18 1/2 years, I see no reason to go to the doctor monthly for a new perscription yet if they make me come in they make the money. I don't have insurance and this is becoming a huge financial strain on us, yet I have to have the meds, I tried doing without that was near disaster for me. I have tried to explain our financial situation to the doctor, changed doctors etc and they all operate the same way! My health should be more important to them than the $100 they want to get out of me every month, yet it is not! I firmly believe healthcare needs to be fixed and the sooner the better. |
