I'm just curious, what topics is everyone interested in? What's your most off-the-wall interest that you would just love to discuss in a forum setting?

Good question, Coffee71. I'm a chatterbox and enjoy talking about just about everything in a forum setting *Smiles*. My favorite subjects are Gothic subculture, writing, reading, book markets, vegetarianism, true crime, BDSM, relationships, current events, important issues, beauty, occult, religions and faiths.
Most off-the-wall? S&M and true crime/criminals.

And yourself?

How about medieval weaponry and a cappella quartets? Though not necessarily at the same time.

I'm presently looking into taking lessons for German longsword and staff (or staves, if you prefer). There is a gent in town who teaches it, but he won't have a class I can join for a few months yet.

The a cappella stems from singing trios and quartets, "barbershopping" from about age six... and that was many, many, many years ago.

Perosnally, I am a writer in training really, my brother is a writer, so I follow in his tracks as I am the younger one. Now, although I can talk about writing pretty well, I enjoy learning and talking about chemistry and explosives. I am not a wana-be pyro that claims that he is a pyro just because I like to play with matches. No, I just enjoy learning the basics about pyro-chemistry and combustion.

Aeronamics are are great subject for me also, as my father is a pilot and just being around him infected me with some of his know-how. These are my fun topics, but I enjoy learning about anything that can be discussed and argued amoung friends, just for fun. I dont like debate, I just like conversation.

I'm ashamed to admit that my off the wall interest is Vin Diesel. I'll watch any movie with him in it, no matter how poorly done. I'm a Vin junkie. I just bought a betta fish and named him Fin Diesel. It's terrible.

That's the best thing I've ever heard.

Everyone on these forums is so much more interesting than me. I was all ready to write "well I like talking about movies and comics and movies based on comics" and then I see posts like "I like to learn about middle-eastern breakfast foods favored by Canadian politicians" and other super-off-the-wall topics.

The thing that I would enjoy posting about (and talking about too, for that matter) would be the ultimate superhero power. I have my own theory of what it would be but I would love to have a forum dedicated to the discussion of all things having to do with superhero powers. I am perfectly willing to defend the supremacy of shapeshifting with anyone who thinks otherwise Very Happy

Naturally, I like to watch, read about, and discuss sports. The strange thing is, most of my friends are not into sports. Aside from that, when one wants to start up a good feud, just bring up politics, religion, or both. It's funny how some people will jump on such chances to fulfill their fighting urges.

Crassus, what do you think of the World Cup? As a European immigrant I find it perplexing that the worlds most sport-oriented nation basically ignores the world's most popular sport. I saw an amazing commercial (for Nike, I believe). It showed the US national soccer team playing at different venues around the world. They were harrassed, there were flags saying "Yankees go home", they were in locker rooms below angry fans who shook the walls. All the while they played, and won. Truly inspirational.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned underwater basket weaving yet. LOL

But anyhow, I'm not sure what I would call my posion. I'm pretty eclectic in my interests, and most new things intrigue me.

Most off the wall, hmm, I would have to say anything on Psychic topics. Ok, I know thats probably not very off the wall, but at least unconventional.

Limeydawg, I won't lie, I am guessing that you are referring to the World Cup of Soccer (hockey has one also), and I have never really been a fan of soccer. I know where you are coming from though. I am originally from the north, so I therefore like hockey. I live in the south now, a place where hockey is crushed by NASCAR. It seems just natural for things that are common in the rest of the world, to be a taboo in the United States--and vice versa. Look at Puritanism.

My "poison" is American Idol. I have been watching the show since it started and have been writing about the show for three years for a couple of different websites. This year, I set up my own site and blog, and have been gratified by the positive response. This show has gotten increasingly more popular, and this is the best year ever.

What's cool is that I get emails from people from all over the world in response to my articles. Just today, I heard from a woman in England who is totally hooked! That makes me feel better, since I know that I am not alone in my passion.

Tonight, the top three face off to determine who goes to the finals (in just a little over an hour). I am smitten with Taylor Hicks, a bluesy rock singer from Birmingham. He's a fabulous entertainer with a unique style that has endeared him to millions. I think he's going to win and go on to be a huge star. But then again, I am hopelessly biased!

So, tonight, I'll be watching and writing, and nervously waiting for tomorrow's results. I'm sure there are some "closet" Idolheads here! Let me hear from you!!!

This is a poor medium to describe the devastation my wife experienced when Chris got booted. That's a profound indicator of the legs Idol has and its broad appeal. I, too, like Taylor Hicks because I happen to be in a position where I now find a common bond with the gray-haired set (I'll go no farther). Of course, talent plays a huge part and he has it in aces. I also find that his style and presentation are refreshing in comparison to the tide of 20-somethings that are the mainstay of the show. He's certainly an inspiration to those of us chasing our dreams at a (somewhat) later age.

Ha, ha that's funny, I have wondered that often myself. Maybe because we are so focused on ourselves in a world of our own over here in the west. I'm interested in just about anything. I'm very open minded and as far as I'm concerned a life time isn't long enough to learn everything I want to know. Mostly I like gardening, antiques and some crafts. I love coming to forums like this to learn more about other people from around the world. I'm hoping to make some friends! Very Happy

Well it's really not that off the wall but I love talking about tattoos. I have three and am saving up to get another one. Tattoos fascinate me and I am always interested in what people ink on their bodies and why. I have four brothers and two of them are like me with the tattoo fetish and the other two are as straight as arrows. One of my brothers is completely sleeved up and is starting on his legs. The other one, his twin, is in the process of getting sleeved and also has an Aztec eagle tattooed on his chest. In July there is a tattoo convention in San Antonio Tx. I plan to attend. Should prove to be quite interesting.

Coffee,

I've learned that asking questions could provide answers so I'm always talking, asking, and wondering about everything around me. Also, I'm very opinionated and always looking for interesting topics involving writing skills, writing opportunities, young business owners, US education curriculum, poetry, speeches, etc. I'm sure a few of us could go at it for days on end discussing ideas. By the way, my AIM screenname is vishynz, contact me if you're up for some good debates and conversation!

The most unusual thing I like to talk about?

Vintage decor and clothing.

I used to own and operate a vintage clothing store. I loved the feeling that there was a history to each item of clothing.

My home is now decorated with vintage and antique items of all sorts. Oh, that's another favorite topic, home decorating. On a budget. A tight budget. Like Sandy's pants in the final scene of "Grease" tight.

just about anything is not normal Wink I am really not normal, so my list of weirdness looks something like this:
    psychology of sociopaths
    porn
    religious philosophies
    parenting
NORML (if you don't know what this means you probably wont agree with it Laughing )

This list could go on and on but I will save the big list for another day!

Peace & Love
Aslyn

Hey Aslyn, did you say religious philosophies? Bingo, there you go! We've got the same kind of interests. In addition, I am also game to a couple other things like watching Bay Watch, Cricket matches, FIFA, and yes, how did I forget Philately? Of course, there are other things that my wife would come after me if I were to mention them out here. Wink
