I agree with them all, except for pruning old threads and posts. They're going to get knocked down the ladder by newer posts anyway and they're there if anyone wants to see them. However sometimes I think it's nessaccery to prune old members (let's say, that haven't logged in for a year).

The most important action a webmaster needs to constantly remember to take is to respond to user's posts in his/her forum. If the owner of the forum is active, it both boosts post count and makes users of a new forum think there is some activity.

The forum owner truly controls whether the forum is active or not by continuously checking it and replying to new threads.

Well I never had a forum to know but from my general knowledge I would say that for the security of a forum,a secondary database that auto updates itself daily or weekly would be the main solution in case of a breach.Preferably it would have to be on a different host than the main one.A reliable host and vulnerability tweaks are also a plus.Pruning threads and posts doesn't seem relevant, either they are buried by new threads and posts or an archive can be made for them.
And as for your first tip ,a philosopher once said that you consider best the things you prefer, and what you prefer isn't necessarily best for others ,so you can look at it as a paradox or an anomaly of logic.
