What is your excuse? Why exactly do you post in forums? Do you only post for money? Do you post because you are lonely? Do you post to meet new people?

I started out on a huge paid forum. I began posting for money and as time went on, I began doing it just to have someone new to talk to. New ideas on things. New point of views. I believe that we should all post for the interaction we get. The daily bump and grind is just that.. spice it up a little by talking to new people or people you haven't ever met!

What's your excuse? Why do you do it?

That's a great question. I can't believe more people haven't responded to it.

My main reason for posting to forums is to have other adults to talk to! During the summer I'm here alone with my two children all day long, so I don't get adult conversation there, and then when school's in I'm completely alone, so I like the friendships from forums.

I think most of us SAHM's, or WAHM's need the support of other fellow SAHM's or WAHM's just to survive, and what better way to get that than through forums.

Sometimes it's nice to just get online and ramble about anything. Makes us forget our crazy lives!! Very Happy

It is the idea of getting to work whenever I consumed a lot of time day-dreaming and just browsing the net without even accomplishing something else.

To gain more knowledge from other person and that I inspired a lot.

Everyday is a learning process...

I started out doing it just for the money, but have stayed an active member on many forums I had as assignments. It is a great way to meet new people.

Hi cassie, nice to meet you. I think it's a combination of all those things for me. I just enjoy doing it. I love getting to know new people and being able to have serious discussion alongside a bit of banter and a laugh, plus I really enjoy finding out what people are all about. I'm a sucker for different thought processes and why one man's meat is another man's poison, so to speak. Anything that stretches the mind is wonderful, I think, and there would never have been anywhere near the number of opportunities that abound now to learn things without forums and the sharing of information.

It's funny to me how many people that don't ever go online think it's a bit strange that you can have online friends, but I've made many good friendships over the years. My pals would say when I was talking about someone," Is that a real person or an online friend?", as if they were imaginary people! Laughing Yet some of the most "real" down to earth, genuinely nice men and women I've met online would be the first ones I'd go to if I needed a shoulder to lean on or wanted to share something good in my life. The camaraderie of online communities is a big attraction for me. Smile

Great question, cassie, thanks for asking it! I think you summed up some excellent reasons there very nicely. Smile

Excellent question, I personally have a number of reasons for posting in forums. I have never posted in a forum for money in the past; in fact, I only recently learned such an occupation existed. Usually, I post in forums to speak with like-minded people about topics that interest me. As I figured it, if they were interested in the forum's subject as I was, they would probably have strong opinions on similar subjects as I do. In that sense, it was a good way to find others with interests like mine.

Other times, I'm lonely and need someone to talk to, but would rather avoid going out to my close friends for support. They tend to be busy, and I have a slight agoraphobia, so I spend most of my time indoors. With forums, I found a way to meet new, interesting people without being stuck in places full of people.

I like to write, and to express myself.

But also, I'm learning. In expressing my views, in letting other people consider my views and persuade me of their own views, I'm building the ideas that will form the basis of my thoughts and values. All of you have the very exciting opportunity to help shape these values.

In other words, a discussion forum is the "place to relax" for me!

I agree with you all it is a good question and neither have I ever posted for money. I love the idea of getting to know new people and being able to openly express my opinion. We are suppose to have the right of freedom of speech yet so often we are oppressed and not allowed to express it. But on a forum you can express your opinion. That doesn't mean that everyone will agree with you. Twisted Evil But then again it would be a boring world if they did.

I started to post on forums that were related to my football team. Forums are a great way to share news and find new friends. I now visit many webmaster related forums as these forums often offer the latest news about the topics that I am interested in.

I used to post mainly on football forums, to talk about my favourite team (over 40k posts). Then I found out three days ago you get paid for doing this... imagine if someone told me that a year ago... Embarassed

Yeah, I usually post on forums I am most interested in. Usually things that will benefit me whether it is knowledge-wise or even money-wise. If its not for those, I have no idea why people post. Its simply wasting their time and they probably have nothing better to do.

I post on forums for loads of different reasons.

The first forum I used was related to a Game I was into at the time, 6 years later and I still post on it. Even though I don't play the game, and hardly anyone on there does but it is a nice community.

Most forums I use are related to web design, programming, games, etc.
I post on the web design forums to get feedback or help with my work. Same for programming, as I have just started to learn C++ I spend a lot of time asking for help.
I post on a few forums as they are related to PC games I play, such as World of Warcraft.

I have never really posted on a forum for the social aspect.

I was mostly shy about posting and I stayed away from it. Then I posted for money and it helped my overcome my shyness, now I love it. I have learned a ton of new things, meet awesome people and expand my personal life.

I think it has helped make me a better person over all, just as all learning helps round a person out.

I post in forums because I'm almost incurably talkative, and always have multiple things on my mind, and never seem to have enough people who want to talk in depth about the topics I'm interested in in real life.

I post mainly because I just love to write. But more importantly, posting on forums allows you to meet new people from all over the world, while it also draws people with similar interests to a single place. You can chat and have fun, but you can also have deep discussions on the issues that interest you. Sometimes you can't do that in real life because the people around you do not always have the same tastes as you have, etc. Of course, I admit I can be quite talkative as well and that's probably another reason I post.

i post for myself. there are a lot of things that i learn from online communities such as this one. i started posting on university forums, for i was entering college then, and i needed some tips about college life and stuff. but computer related forums are really my favorite. i get a lot of information about the field through them. then i've learned that i can get some freebies just by posting on some forums -- that includes free domain registrations, free web hosting, even cold cash! now, i do forum postings at about 80%-90% of my online time Wink

The main reason I post on forums is because I have interest in them. The aspect of getting paid to use them is new but interesting. But if your not interested in posting or interacting, then you will quickly learn why this isn't for you.

Basically, people post in forums for several reasons.

As for me, I post in forums because I find it fun. I learn a lot of good stuff by just reading other people's post or having to ask people for answers about things I don't know about. It's very interactive, in the sense that when one posts, it always will elicit a reply, comment, or another question. I also like sharing what I know about, give something of value to discussions or just simply pitch in my two cents! Very Happy
